Thank you for the translation! Now we just need the missing chapters...

So, was this series (and/or the novel it's based on) cancelled due to what went down with the author? Or is it still ongoing?

The LN hasn't gotten a new volume since 2020 I think. Vol 15 was the last one. And the WN account was deleted when he went awol as well.

Basically... what we got is what we get.

If you like this manga I recommend The Witch and the Mercenary. It has a similar setup to this one and is really good.
Yeah, "The Witch and the Mercenary" is good so far. I liked "What Do You Wish For With Those Murky"'s wn and manga, so here's another recommendation.
Tbf it's not that bad of an arc lol
I shoulda said that as well, I put it hold, the wn was good till that point.

Ok, the story just forgot if it's a comedy adventure or a dark fantasy and decided to be both.
On side note, Konosuba had simillar or even same-ish elements too before it got retconned or met with main cast.

Konosuba was always a comedy though. No one really dies permanently there.

Here the half of the group got wiped in the first arc already. But now characters are discussing I'd they should help their friend for a whole chapter.

That manga tries to fill too many tags, and fails at all of the sadly.

That's only for main cast... Or rather for those close to Aqua. Otherwise there are missing children, violence (including sexual), mind control, body snatching, mass deaths, torture and abuse spread all over the lore.

Huh? It is? Nothing of that was present in the anime. Are you maybe talking about light novel?

Well, it was missing a context from novel version, but more or less present in the background. Do note that half of it was retconned though. Author clearly more valued comedy then consistency.
P.S. Novel has more or less same tone as anime - it's just that is has more flavour text - it's not dark toned as it could be perceived from tagwords I mention.
