This shit is dumb. As an SS rank adventurer, he should've been able to detect his presence. Even so, he could also have just looked around the room before removing his mask. And on top of all that crap, he's been shown to have used memory manipulation magic beforehand. So what's stopping him now?

A. he didn't consider that she's lying to him and is now plotting to stab him in the back? instead he's like "wow, she still trusts me! I can't betray that trust!"

B. why doesn't he pretend that its the other way around? that Silver is using his magic to pose as the prince

@Subran The idea is that he's still a human and can make minor mistakes. He made a slip up cause he's only human. The memory manipulation could have issues, so if it back fires a bit, it could be a problem. Especially since she has some authority, and getting on her bad side would be dangerous.

Also, it's sudden. So he's panicking.

@ZanaduKhan Silver posing as or possessing a prince could also be viewed as something dangerous and could back fire. He could lose trust with the Empire or get in trouble with the guild and if Leo allowed it, then that'd mean that Leo might lose trust.

And I think he's able to tell that she's trust worthy; for the purpose of the story, she is trust worthy.

And him being silver isn't? And he could have justified it by saying that the prince needed silver to act as the prince

"Because plot" is a bad excuse, like this super smart guy never considers the fact that she's not lying to him? Right after talking about how he lied to her?

What a fucking idiot, teleports to the DUKE's mansion and immediately takes off his mask. I hate when stories pass around the idiot ball to railroad plot points like this.

Bruh...if he's such a genius with magic, and even had the foresight to put up a sound proof barrier, can't he just put up a barrier that notifies him if there's a presence in his room? I mean, all the strategic thinking on top of years (assuming) of "guarding his secret" and he slips up, in someone else's territory no less. It just seems like the author is trying to force the duke's daughter into being with the prince.
