Someone who prioritises money above all else is not someone who only wastes money, heedless of how much of it is left. Instead such a person would use any methods, including unethical ones, to amass more and more money or assets that can be quickly turned into money. Julianne, on the contrary, was a person who believed she had nothing but money going for her anymore. But she wasn't really inherently interested in money, she just used it as a universal tool, so she didn't bother to study the financies to see if she really even has it in the future. This is psychologically understandable. It was the only thing she could rely on anymore, so learning she soon won't have any would have basically removed her one and only means of achieving anything in life. She would have been too afraid to learn the truth. It was easier for a weak mind to keep her eyes closed and pretend everything is just fine.
