Is this one of those manga where we find out later that Asaka is one of those characters who put on the "good girl" act because its expected of them or something
@Stoner yeah, I think something got lost in translation and people are overreacting a little bit. It just lines up perfectly with the timing of the pretend agreement and this doesn't strike me as a tragic manga AT ALL. It would be really weird if that was the case.
Asaka's intentions seem basically to be that she wants to do the pretend couple thing in the hope that Hoshikawa and her become the real thing (cause she already fell in love with her after reading her novel).

If someone more knowledgeable wants to give it a go, the final squares from ch1 read:
彼女と一緒に過ごした
最初で最後の夏のはじまりだった
Given the somber first color page and this chapter ending with "something feels strange", I still stand by "last summer I spent with her".
@punpun if you say you're sure about it, it's good. Maybe it's the author that's playing with us, cause I still refuse to believe it'll be something tragic (it doesn't fit the tone of the manga so far, it would be too odd). Thanks for confirming it and for the translations in general.
