I'm not medieval geek, but that sword strap look like a normal belt. It would be hilarious if the swords just fall through while everyone was watching.
Also, the logbook exchange seem weird. Would
"In exchange for returning the sword.." be better than
"Instead of returning the sword.." ?
Those 2 have entirely different meaning.
