Pretty sure it's a common trope that only elves can navigate their way to the elven hometown.

These vignettes are amplified childhood fantasies of defeating bullies. The limitations on what a kid could do if somehow victorious in real life are mirrored by the idiocy of not killing or crippling the perpetrators in the fictional conflict.

Here, we have the special stupidity of the would-be killers stunned by sword slashes.

It's probably something like a race issue. Maybe something like "he needs a permission from an elf to get into an elven territory because he is a human, and human is hated in elven territory, as human is inferior to elves".
