I feel bad for this girl, she is in love with MC but alas, her love would never be reciprocated. This shit happens to most of the rom com manga.
Well, MC's friend is a good option though.
Why do writers feel the urge to make the friend characters so much more likable than the main ones.
Like, I feel like I have no real connection to the main dude. You know? Whereas the friend dude I am always interested by.
Maybe I just don't get what is supposed to make the main dude interesting...
@Loghtan Sounds like a personal problem. He’s not any more interesting or likeable than the main character. I mean, you don’t HAVE to have some sort of “connection” to fictional characters. And how is he even more interesting/likeable? Because he has an unrequited crush and is aroused by someone writing on his back?
@liquidsword Nah, because usually the MC is written as a stoic faceless character, and fiend characters are usually written with unique quirky personalities that fit a fictionist story. You sound like the one with a personal problem jumping into random insults and random bouts of projection. Please look inwards before expressing outwards, it’s very cringe.
@liquidsword I think maybe it's just that friend dude is more expressive in general, which is - upon reflection - more just my preference in characters. So I suppose you are right in a sense.
But with regards to your point about me not needing a "connection": I think I kind of do though? It is supposed to be a cute, character focused, romance/drama thing. If the writer cannot get me emotionally connected to one of his main characters then he has failed to keep me interested.
@Omoni What are you on about? Me saying “sounds like a personal problem,” is not me insulting them. And how exactly am I projecting? Because I said that he’s not any more interesting than the main character? I don’t think that’s how projection works. @KeyGLaw Exactly, thank you. I never once insulted them. If I’m going to insult someone, it’ll be a lot more obvious and outright than that.
