In hindsight, this should be the perfect time to leave to another country. Lavia is still a fugitive, and while her face is not widely known, there is a fair chance those with authority do recognize her on sight.

Anyway, between the monsters and the kingdom prepping for war, there shouldn’t be much resource to pursue Lavia, especially if they head the opposite direction from where the war is gonna be.

But of course the author is not gonna let it happen….

it is a strange way to handle this cricis in. the king literally lets monsters roaming.. and from what we hear it is powerful monsters.
it will dry out with the time? did the king not think it MIGHT not dry out for long time?

Thats the idea. When they start the war, that forest full of monsters will be a virtual wall that prevents armies from invading from that direction.

Ah, so basically the philosophy behind the Maginot Line. Yeah, that'll be ooooh~sooooo effective.</s>

France: "This seemingly impassible mountain range will keep any invasion from coming through this region, so we will focus all of our defenses in this open area instead."
Germans: Goes through the mountains to avoid the ridiculously OP defensive line
France: Stunned Pikachu Meme

Well, that's why princess said that the king is acting strangely. That's a hint which indicates him being manipulated by something/someone :pepehmm:.

Is anyone gonna talk about the "brainrot girlfriend" part in the last page? No? Alright.
I mean, he knows the rules. He's not like any other guy, he lets her know how he's feeling.
He's never going to give her up, let her down, run around, or desert her.

I don't know. I don't remember being told the geography of the region. If it's only a 1 front war, they could be running to the country being attacked. Running around in the middle of a war, means you're running around in the middle of war. Accidentally being killed in a battle is still dead. And Forced Conscription is a thing.

I recently re-read this so it’s a bit fresher in my memory.

Ch 12 pg. 32 bottom panel shows the map with the border. Also from the same page, the MC clearly knows the geopolitical situation and geography, he knows well enough where the hotspot is likely gonna be.
Plus, per this chapter, they’ve had skirmishes, but not full on war yet and if war were to happen, the opposition is clear to be Quinbrand, so right now, it will be a single front. Hence, getting away from that specific area now also means they’re getting away from the war.

I can’t comment on this world setting, but Forced Conscription is never mentioned in this series afaik, especially since normal folk are much much weaker than adventurers and the army (unlike real world). And it’s easier and better for the morale to recruit adventurers through the a guild quest anyway.
