Came here to point out how stupid it is for anyone to volunteer to go up first. Saw that 10,000 people beat me to it.

How did the author not realize this himself when he wrote this? I mean, I was expecting someone in the story to point out how stupid the setup was, but nope. Everyone is just excited to be the first one to tire themselves out.

A rule where if no one steps on within 5 minutes or everyone who hasn't entered the stage after a certain time is disqualified would've fixed it. It'd still be dumb, but there would at least be some acknowledgement that the rules are dumb and unfair.

I'd say normally you'd want to be the last to join a king of the hill type match like this, but as a counterpoint: by now the MC is at least aware of how much more powerful he is than other people and how to gauge enemy strength. I'm guessing the challenge these people pose is so trivial to him that it's simply faster to go first and use AoE magic to cut their number down to himself, slave girl and up to 3 randos.

This is totally setting up a shot where that judge is gonna do the O_O face when he sees mc's true power.

To MC this is like a royal rumble with toddlers.

Look at that first page lmao. That’s what happens when female armour designers make male armour, which I’d honestly like to see more of for the laughs. Yeah, that’s definitely all. For the laughs.

I've noticed a lot of people commenting on the strategy of waiting to go up, and feeling like this is a flawed test as a result. There are a few factors to consider, though, which are why the B-Rank player did it this way, and would say there is no problem with the test.

Reasons that could be given for plausibility when talking to other test administrators:
1. All eyes are on the stage, which means that people could potentially get incapacitated while "waiting" without anybody seeing who did it to them. As such, you could find yourself attacked by many more contestants if you wait.
2. If others are also trying to wait, you could get thrown up onto the stage by a group of them, so that they can wait longer, which could put you off balance if they throw you close to somebody on stage, and you could be knocked off before getting to do much.

AND THE ACTUAL REASON:
3. The Proctor has stated that he doesn't think any of these people are worthy. So it isn't about finding the "most worthy" it is just about limiting the number of "unworthy" people that "pass" to 5. He could have just as easily looked at them to "evaluate" them, and just picked 5 at random to say they are the ones that passed. He thinks they are all trash, so he doesn't care whether the 5 are the "best 5" from the group or not, and this form of picking is to show just how little he cares about how they compare to each other.

Ignoring all the talk about the fairness of the trial...

Doesn't it just seem kind of lazy for a first test? They say it has the highest acceptance rate and at the same time throw this trash in as the first test... which doesn't even require magic? In an academy of sorcery?

So it's like freaking Skyrim where you can become an archmage through the power of your sword or some dumb shit?
