Not saying you can't also scanlate this. Respect for doing it from the first chapter. But I am curious why you'd scanlate something that already has a team working on it. I noticed you at least do some of the sfx, whereas reapers doesn't.

I picked the manhwa up on the same day as them, when the manhwa released, just never uploaded. :huh: Since we can't speedrun, I first uploaded on our site and wanted to upload on mangadex when we are caught up, but after 1-2 weeks passed it didn't feel right to upload the chapters then so stopped working on it. Right now I'm just uploading some chapters to at least promote the group that way, but most likely won't continue.

Also, going to be real, your script isn't as good as Reaper Scans' so as far as advertisement goes it makes your group come off as more mediocre.

Well, going off of the comment by the person in chapter 11, our version is "cleaner, easier to read, and with better tonal wording", plus we also do more SFX. It's fine though, I know we are not a well-known group, so it's tough to "compete" against popular groups like Reaper. :shamihuh:

(What I mean by this is that readers tend to be overly judgmental toward lesser known groups and often blindly support bigger groups simply because of their popularity. This can also be seen between Asura and Reaper. Even though Reaper is a big group too, and has better edits and translation for this manhwa, a lot more readers still read Asura's version because they are just way bigger. You can check the like difference on the chapters on Comick site)

"Easier to read, with better tonal wording" just isn't true from what I've seen. Your chapters are clean, there's that, but your choice of words/script are less evocative and considered in this case.

It's not a case of being too judgemental to smaller groups or vice versa, but if you want to advertise then you gotta be prepared if some people don't find the work up to snuff.

Have you actually read the other chapters, or are you just judging based on the first one?

It’s fine if you prefer Reaper’s version, since people have different preferences, but saying that our script is "less evocative" and "less considered" sounds more like a bias. In my opinion, most people who've read past the first chapter (though it's not like there're any issues with the first chapter either) can see that we put care into the tone, accuracy, and editing, not to mention the SFX where we could.

And just to be clear, again, we didn't try to compete with Reaper. We picked up the manhwa at the same time when it released, we just can't speedrun, that's that. Does that mean I'm forbidden from sharing our version we've worked a lot on? Yeah, I did lose motivation because it just took too much time to catch up and now it looks weird, but who says I can't share our version so maybe people will check out some of our other translations?

As for your last comment;

if you want to advertise then you gotta be prepared if some people don't find the work up to snuff.

Yes, criticism is fair, but only when it's actually based on the work, not on assumptions. Even if we are not a big group like Reaper, we are still fairly known, and people know if we translate something it's always something unique with great translation and edits, so not sure how we are "mediocre" if we still delivered quality for this manhwa. Anyway, considering all of that, why can't I promote the group by sharing our version?

And for the record, I’m not saying Reaper’s version is bad. It's actually solid, but so is ours. Just because a group is bigger or more well-known doesn’t automatically mean their version is the best and I shouldn't even try.
