im spitballing here, but since the duke suddenly showed alchemist abilities/pure mana late, aka after the og!mel died,...isnt it entirely possible he did something screwy to get those abilities from mel? like transfer the dragons "curse" to himself?

like if we considering capitalistic personality, if he had that kind of ability he would not have waited so long to make use of it and brag about it

and considering how attached he is to her bloodline, it makes no sense for him to so easily just let her be killed off unless he found a way to gain her abilities (could also have been a fake execution but idk)

Although, I think there's also a chance he got it from the tower master who disappeared while fighting him
It could be the tower master disappeared to escape that fate; or maybe after he leaves, lennox learns it from the knowledge in the tower.

Sooooo does she know what pure mana is or not? She seemed to not know what it was at the start of the chapter.

But at the end she said that she knew the Tower Master had pure mana. So confusing. Annoying.

I guess the only way to explain this is that she wasn't questioning what exactly is pure mana but she was surprised that she had them.
