I really don't like characters like him, just because they suffered they feel like they can talk down to others and act like entitled and righteous prick. You were desperate, so what ? Does it have anything to do with ruining peoples lives ? Does it have anything to do with the bet at hand ? No. From the bits we saw our MC seemed to have suffered greatly in the past, for once I would have liked if we didn't get the "You suffered but I suffered more and I'm not as pathetic as you" kind of situation, but whatever, I hope it'll be done well
