Oh god, he really is the duke of the North, and here I thought I was being needlessly sarcastic...
As for the prince, it might be a little bit too early to judge, but he doesn't look like he's outright malicious. But if he's that oblivious and self-centered, it makes it easy to manipulate him, which explains everything that happened in the original timeline, too.
