Chapter 1 has been updated - the volume I'm using didn't have chapter breaks so I needed to eyeball the end of the chapter, but I've since been able to find a version with those listed. Please go back to chapter 1 and read those pages (final four). Will leave a note as well in the chapter to be safe.

Thanks for the update. It looks really dated, you can tell it is from the 70s and it has that Tezuka like feel. Nevertheless the story has potential.

@kiwifb Glad to hear you're enjoying it! Yes, the art style is absolutely 70s, but boy do I love Hagio's art in this one - so full of character and emotion. Always been my go-to for easing new readers to the classics, especially ones that harbor the feeling that shoujo works are just school romcoms. While I can vibe a good school romcom from time to time, it's this weirder, heady side of classic shoujo that's well grounded in the tumultuous social and political climate of the time that fascinates me the most.

11-nin iru! is a unique story in the canon of manga overall thanks to the themes it tackles and its unusual setting, and I hope that this new release can bring some more attention back to it since people are starting to be more interested in these sorts of stories these days.

Okay, so I wanted to come up with an excuse as to why this (ch 3) is coming out so late, but I can't beside the fact that I'm an insane person and so far this is a one-girl team with some lovely freelancers joining in. So here's some updates for anyone interested.

11-nin Iru!:

- Cleaning, slicing, scanning, etc, is done for not just this series, but for Zoku 11-nin iru too!! More on the latter below but yeah, the most monotonous part of this process is writing scripts/transcripts, so while I get those done (found a lovely assistant to help me) I'll probably be able to release chapters 3 and 4 close to one another. Huzzah for help!
- Expect ch. 3 within the week (if you're reading this it's prolly cause it already came out yay me) and ch 4 in February.

Zoku 11-nin Iru!:
- I have a translator! And a backup proofreader!! Huzzah!!!!! In addition, I've already scanned, sliced, etc, and am just awaiting scripts to begin typesetting. Will notify here before anywhere else of how that's gonna go.
- Expect ch. 1 within late February, early March. First time the series will be available in English!!!!

Shoujo no Kuni (the group aka me hiiiii):
- I want to start working on other projects while my friends sort out their parts in this one. If anyone or any group is looking to work together, I currently have scans for:
1. Sei Rosalind (1973 - Horror - 1vol)
2. Star Red (1978 - SF/Psychological - 3vol)
3. Alois (1975 - Psychological - 1vol)
4. My Doll is a Good Doll (1987 - Horror - 1vol) and
5. In the Night (2003 - Yuri/Psychological - 1vol)

ALSO

6. Tempest (2010 - Psychological/Sci-Fi/Gender Bender - 9vol)
- I'm looking for some dedicated peeps (will split work with an existing group) to scanlate this series. It's a fascinating and unique mixture of LGBT theming, dystopian science fiction, psychological elements, medical science, and lovely josei art by the author Aniya Yuiji, a brilliant writer who has not really been acknowledged by the West and deserves some exposure. I want this one to be my Big Project and am willing to put up the brunt of the work to see it realized, but I will need some dedicated translators to help me on board!

Please please please contact me either via dm or through discord (Spira ❤#4879) so we can get the ball rolling on any one of these!! Thanks!!

Update really appreciated. I like the way the story develops properly. Some thought also went in the development of the universe.

it is COMPLETE!

took longer than I'd hope cause of complications through the months but 11-nin iru! is done!! next up on the agenda is Zoku 11-nin Iru!, which I already have a translator for and is moving at a healthy pace. first release might take a while, but subsequent releases will be quick and speedy. the series is a sequel but deals in different scenarios and with a few new characters, so reading it will depend on your familiarity with this work but this work can be read by itself as a complete, cohesive series.

I'd like to thank my buddy Roak for helping me with QC and transcripts for the latter two chapters on this. I'm still looking for translators for a few projects I have in the works, so please message me on here (or on our newly opened discord, nudge nudge) if you're interested in joining or starting a joint project if you're representing a group. <3 thanks!

Solid classic Shoujo stuff, some interesting themes that I've heard pushed the envelope at the time. Thanks a ton for translating this Shoujo no Kuni!

Great stuff! It's honestly good to see decades-old major works like this get translated online.

I myself never even heard of this work, but it's been a good thing that it's here for all of us.

i decided to read this after it was referenced in Hyouka, and it was pretty enjoyable!

i loved the world building, and the mystery. i wish there were more little moments between to help you feel more immersed, but i feel like a lot of old-school manga are like this.

i felt sorry about Frol though. no wonder they don't want to be a woman if that's how women are treated. i wonder if the author wrote Frol as an insight into how women feel irl. i didn't like that Frol would give up their plans just for the MC, i guess some things just don't age too well :^)
