Just accuse him of being the "mysterious individual" who murdered the countess and say that his "timing is too good to be true... hmm, maybe he should be interrogated and have all his assets investigated, just to make sure there isn't a traitorous murderer on the lose in the capital". Because he's probably behind it anyways, why else would they even bother showing him at that point in time...

I think this chapter was only considered useless/confusing for those that ended up forgetting a bit of the story. In the first part of the chapter there's Sila's dad maybe being innocent which is pretty important since in that case she can inherit her title and stuff, and with the stepmom being proved guilty of murder her siblings may lose their rights too with her being the sole heir or something. And in the second part there's the introduction of a knight that serves a royal, who might become the next heir to the throne in case the prince -that was cursed in the begging of the story- where to die. So this chapter not only cleared Sila's situation somewhat, but also shed a bit of light on who could possibly be the true villain (a.k.a. the guy behind the whole conspiracy) while also introducing his minion (mid level villain).
