a masterpiece detailing the odyssey of the main character, illustrated as a gorilla (a species of ground-dwelling and predominantly herbivorous apes), after finding out they will reach the final step of life, death.
the first chapter contains multiple references to the circle of life, the philosophy of death and multiple concepts prior to reading this that i could not comprehend.
the second chapter features the heart-wrenching death of the beloved main character, leaving the reader with a sense of emptiness that gets filled in with the alternative chapter, which shows the main character dying with a smile on their face.
this series is sui ishida's magnum opus and i will rate this 10/10
