@VeeRex Congratulations on using college diction.
Moving on.
@Jungsok agreed, and I've seen some 9f that crap close up with some of the groups mentioned. [I'm members of each and have QCed for SLC and others.]
I disagree about speed because as these releases show—quality matters. If you are going to post chapters, don't shitpost, snipe, and then on top of it bomb on your copy-editing & QC. It ruins the trolling for one (makes one look like an idiot), and furthermore, ruins the comic.
I don't know about others, but I'm here to enjoy the comic itself. It may be because I work as an editor (real life), but seeing these wars defeats the whole ethos of scans. Did folks forget why we scanlate in the first place?
No, "speed" is not strictly the Scanlation Prime Directive. It may be for some, but as someone who has been around scanlation since the days we had to share this stuff on IRC & Emule, if not before, I find the whole thing insulting to all of us who came before. We're suffering from the three great comic/manga/anime crashes (2006, 2008, current downtrends) and now people are wasting time infighting.
It's no wonder Manga Rock got away with that bullshit with "going legit". They created name recognition and have massive followings. They still charge for their "definitive app" and still have the website up. It's a scam to exploit the market after they already got away on bootlegs. That is the antithesis of fanlation.
Either way, regarding Bucci vs Sleepless Society, I'm confused about the comments about Bucci leaving as SS is Bucci and has always been Bucci (to my understanding).
Rumpi started from another group that died (as memory serves) and used Bucci's SS Aggregator page. Not sure why they left, though it may not have been drama as Rumpi was already doing its own thing.
Either way, like I tried to explain—I typically don't involve myself with "sniping". I hold that each group can potentially offer a unique take on a translation, and if they want to, go for it! Just don't troll readers & shitpost (what the aforementioned source did IMAO). That goes beyond even my liberal viewscon shitposting & "sniping". That goes a bit for even all groups.
