Guess I'm the only one unhappy at this development.

It's clear now that Canaria and Cesar will solve their misunderstanding and the true fight will be against the Emperor's decision of marrying him to Gracie. This avoid most of the conflict and leads quickly to a fluffy ending, since Miss Lancaster will be more interested in becoming Duchess.

I wanted a tougher route whereby Canaria broached to Cesar that she was ready to divorce him (in her mind, as per his wishes) to let him advance towards his goal. Then he'd be devastated, ask something like "So all of this was an act?" and there would be tears and separation. Canaria would then get her peaceful divorce and alimony, only to realise she missed Cesar after all, and the story would evolve with each going this way and that until they rediscovered their love, against all odds. It would be comedy gold, too, seeing Cesar go after Canaria in her new life.

Guess I like it when characters suffer a little more. These two are far too quick to go into each other's arms. After all, the title was supposed to mean surviving was the main goal. The way things go, it's too easy, she just had to be friendly and honest, and rely on the book to give her clues.

Still a good series, though. But I'm enjoying the comedy in Why are you doing this, Duke? more.

I kind of see where you are coming from, but I feel like this was going to be all along like this. Cesar wants to clear her name and may I remind you he is a justice type of person. Seeing her go to a monastery, be ashamed would go against his justice when she hasn't done anything wrong in the first place.
It's been implied more and more that she likes him on some level and even thought to herself that she'd want to be with him a bit longer couple of chapters back.
Cesar is the one quick to hug her. Canaria herself is not yet at the level where she can just say she loves him.

I feel like she will stay in the palace, but I doubt the part that will be instantly fluff. Even if she were to stay, there's a still much at play in the palace like the dude that's Evgenias butler and many distrustful of Canaria since she was from an "enemy" side.

We also don't know what this Cesar is thinking, remember his war went much faster than in Canarias novel, maybe he will actually refuse the crown? Who knows. The only thing thats certain about him is his devotion to Canaria.

AWWWW scheibe I'm basically tearing up here, I was expecting something on the lines of " you won't have a hand the next time you rise it with the intention to harm the one I love"

I think one of the reasons why Canaria stops herself from loving Caesar is bc she cannot give him anything. As her brother said, to be crown prince, you need backing from powerful houses and marriage w Gracie is the easiest way. She virtually has no power and cannot support him.

I wonder when he fell in love with her. Was it when she waited for him when she got lost in the streets?
