Thumbnails small size missing

Hello, i noticed one of the cause of the huge loading time and spike lags that affect this website in certain parts of the day timeframe, is the absence of resized thumbnails.
I mean, thumbnails are indeed preview images but they do not match the small size you see in the main page, they are just the original pictures resized. The problem is that these original images sometimes are very big and heavy to load in PNG format.
This is the cause of the huge loading time not only of preview images (left to the title) but user avatars too.

Solution, add a script or a plug-in that automatically create a resizing and small version of the original cover manga (both main website page and tabs) and avatar and covert it in JPG format.
This will prevent stressing the website and it load only small sized JPG images, of course the original images of the manga are loded in their original PNG form. If someone want to see the original image of the cover and user avatar it have to just click over it and will load the original size.

Tl;dr
Issue: All images on the website are in their full original size, often in 2-3 mb PNG format each and so creating lag and stressing the server at every refresh.
Pages affected: main page thumbnails, manga covers in the dedicated tabs, user avatars.
Solution: when adding manga covers and user avatars the server automatically create a small version of the same picture in JPG format to use as a thumbnail.
To see the full original PNG image of user avatars and manga covers just click over it, to go to the manga tab and chapters just click the name.
Of course this change do not affect manga chapters that are loaded in their original format like now.

Any further suggestions or tips are welcome.

All images on the front page are already thumbnails. Try downloading one and you'll see it's named 902.thumb.jpg instead of 902.jpg. They are also all jpg (I know because I downloaded all the thumbnails).
Only full sized cover is the random manga.
The detailed list view on manga lists does indeed use full covers though (grid uses the thumbnails).
Also, covers are 1MB maximum, and if they weren't and what you said was the case, I think it'd be pretty noticeable if people had to load likely over 100MB for all the covers on the front page.

You are right, but is very odd, they load slow and my browser still in loading till all these images are fully loaded. Random image manga take eons and user avatars too.

I noticed another odd behaviour. If i press esc in my browser (firefox) and so stop the page loading the connection still operate in background, and when it happens i'm not able to open any other page untill the load is complete.

I guess is a script that prevent too many copnnections at the same time reducing the bandwidth of the user, but is possible to have this option disabled in the user settings? I think is a sorta of prefertching or caching, i prefer reload the page when i get issues but with this script is impossible to do so.

Anyway thanks for the info. Appreciated.

There was another user on discord with the same issue (I saw your bug report a month ago) and we were unable to figure out what was the cause of the problem, this isn't anything MD is doing that is known about. In his case it also seemed like it only happened with Chrome and there were even some images that loaded fine while others took upwards of 20 seconds to load. It's like an issue with CloudFlare but again, we have no idea why it's happening to some users.

This is indeed something very odd, i'm continue to investigate if i'm able to find the cause, maybe can be a script that is loading in the background, i noticed that changing the ip and restarting the browser can do the trick very often. I'm using firefox.
Maybe there is some sort of net trottling that prevent hammering the server when lots of images are loaded? But is odd that some users have this issue and some not.
