Reading some of the old chapters, it just occurred to me how utterly bizarre this story is, MC-design wise --
TLDR: It's about some guy, who does not want to be "called for adventure", but the author constantly wants for the MC to be called for adventure, so he showers him with opportunities, and these opportunities are constantly being shut down.

Kind of baffling. If you can't write a story about a guy who just wants to chill out, why constantly drag him to the spotlight?
I can get the joke of: "Does not want to be famous? Wouldn't it be funny if he gets super famous?" -- but that joke runs extremely stale by the 4rd time it's used, not to mention it being the main theme of the story, so it'll be played ad-infinitum.
Truly a bizarre choice for an MC.
Coming back to this old comment, and now I can only think about:
"Anyone still reading this thing? It went on for so long, with a pretty weak premise, that I can't even flip through the pages."
I recall the fun thing being about this story, is the relatively creative and wacky crafting, the system interactions.
But looking at chapters 100s+-, it just looks like a SOL piece, with pretty mediocre action...

This is written by someone who has never played an MMO before. MC starts an MMO late and chooses production classes and other random stuff and gets really popular by making grape juice potions and cooking steaks. Sorry there are plenty of people who do nothing but production in MMOs, plus they'll have alt accounts for that stuff too.
Not to defend this story too hard, but AFAIK, the premise of the MC's success was his "ingenuity".
A big part of the premise was that, in a game, people are told: "Do X", so they do X. The MC saw "Do X", and tried to think like a QA guy and break the game around it.
That being said, as you put it, he "broke it" in pretty weak ways, there's a lot of garry-stu energy in this one, but it's overall "forgiven" because, at its core, the story is not action-orientated. It's supposed to be slice-of-life-ish, low-stakes, and any major success is played for laughs. So having an MC who can invent sliced-bread every so often, is less offensive, I presume.
