So I've had a discussion with a few fans who take this crap seriously about their standards for a good romcom and why they claim this show is apparently better than older romcoms and then I gave my personal and a general opinion about it. SPOILER ALERT, they were NOT happy. You know how they try to invalidate criticism? "wElL iT wAS betTeR iN thE LN" "dUDe tHe LN wAS a mASterpIEcE" They're treating me like I've never fucking read the LN to know if they were bullshitting or not because I have and the LN is literally a fanservice shithole. Ask any LN readers if the source material is comparatively better with the illustrations of the cute girls and the morally dubious interactions between the MC and his sister. Fans who tell you to read the LN are usually those who doesn't read LNs and thinks being a LN reader somehow puts them on a higher pedestal. That or they've never read a good fucking book in their life. There was also that one clueless idiot who claimed that the incest sister is a deep character in the LN. I was wondering how deep in his ass was he was talking when he said that because even her backstory doesn't explain how she turned out to be who she is later on, aside from being Japanese enough to fit in the trope of classic sister loves her brother

for real. i don't get why fans of this shit try to make this better than it really is. it's like they're ashamed of saying that they like gooning to high school girls so they have to do olympic mental gymnastics justifying "certain" story elements as if they drive a moral life lesson home, yet froth at the mouth, scratching at their neck like heroin addicts shouting for more panty shots and strip scenes like they're important story beats.

personally, i don't see nothing wrong with liking gooner fan service, but it's actually disingenuous to what the product actually is by making it deeper so they can justify the gallons of semen they've busted all over their screens. this series is made for gooners, there's no point in trying to make it deep so just take the product for what it is, and move on ffs.

I'm only a relative noob to all this, but is it of economic value for a manga to be so far behind the anime? I appreciate that manga has its own unique market, but wouldn't being so far behind the anime limit its reach with mainstream audiences, considering the more common process is for the manga to be quite established before the anime is released?

even then, it doesn't do it that well since the fan service that always gets in the way so much, it gets repetitive and tiring. it's almost impressive how the author turned masachika and alya's romantic development back to square one literally right after she kissed him on the cheeks to pad this shit out for a few hundred more chapters, not to mention the other questionable moments he has with other characters (that somehow has more meaningful development than the mc/fmc).

In my opinion, it was good at the start, but walked off a cliff and floated in the air like a cartoon character, it fell off in a way that felt sudden but it wasn't actually... I feel like they tried to create too much drama, like, fucking everywhere and the result was the story starting to feel a little stale...

Yeah it's a shame. I've been enjoying the anime and LN for some casual watching/reading but I don't have any interest in Masachika's backstory and the election storyline seems to be stretching wayyy too far.
