Well I guess that is some form of progress. But yeah, that's totally a new kind of misunderstanding. I feel like that character is going to be annoying in the long run tho if that's the way she interpreted the situation.

But if the story keeps moving the same way and they aren't dating within 20 chapters it's kind of bs. They'll probably stall it by introducing more characters and focus on them, so it doesn't feel as unnatural, that's how mangaka usually do it. Honestly that is still a better method than having a weird misunderstanding between the MC and the FMC tho

I actually have a pretty good idea that it is text.

It's four characters written vertically (2 in each eye, top to bottom, right to left). The first character is コ, the second and fourth are kanji which are illegible to me and probably need to be picked up from context and I can't quite pin down the 3rd. It looks like a dakuten katakana, maybe ダ? These kinds of characters can't appear by mistake since it'd be like an artist accidentally putting a perfectly proportioned "h" into their work and it slips by themselves, the assistants and the editor.
