This "story arc" is definitely editor ordering the author to add more drama. Because it's done as half-assedly as possible.

I'm not sure I would say it's half-assed, it actually seems kinda realistic. There is A LOT of douchebags out there, and many manipulative people hide their inner self until later in a relationship. With how she gives off the perfect woman vibe, it's not surprising it didn't manifest as prominently until they started living together.

This comment section is different than I expected. Back in the day, the mere possibility of one of the MCs in a slow and fluffy romcom having had sex previously would have sent readers into a rage lol. I'm glad to see that's changed and people are more grounded now.

Still kind of weird that the author randomly stuck that in there for like 3 chapters and made it canon then bailed on it.
