Aight, first of all. The asshole that can't take bang dumped! PoS! Trying to hook our boy up with someone else, by frankly using that woman, and hurting our girl! Lowest of the low.

MC. That guy isn't nice for reason above. Dude couldn't just handle her being happy and dates women as thropies.

Now the brother. Oh Lord give me strength to slap the idiot out of him! He pushes his insecurities and beliefs on other, forcing his selfish way all the time. And now that he learn that he didn't get dump he is okay with our girl??!? How were he not sure if she was cheating on him and if they still were together?? Wtf??

Either way, hope those two characters never show up again, the IQ of the series dropped to room temperature (Celsius) with those two in the chapter.

Either way, thanks for the chapter 👍🏼

I have to say, it's been quite a week when it comes to small mangakas ruining their work by attempting drama.
I'm equally displeased with the author, but I'm curious whether their Japanese fans are 100% in sync with the MC or are sending angry tweets to the author. All the cringy and stupid tropes that keep returning in manga and anime do so because they're common in Japan or because they're easy to write. And we all know drama clearly is not easy to write as this manga is going to shit whenever it attempts anything serious that is non-romantic. Anyone in the know?

I personally think it's a combination of all you said, combined with the fact that this is written by men, for men. On top of that, these mangakas seem to have very little real life experience to draw from, so they end up using what they know: stuff from other mangas, again written by men, for men. It's all they know, and the cycle repeats.

This also happens in manga written for women, by women, btw. They sometimes promote toxic stereotypes as well. I'd say the difference is that the market isn't as saturated on that end, and it's easier to find better written drama, I think.

In small-scale mangas like this one, I don't think the mangakas have a lot of input from others, they don't even seem to plan ahead. I often get a feeling that they just make it up as they go.

As you said, if they stick to something easy, they can get by, but when they introduce drama, which is much more difficult to write well, as it requires nuance, empathy, and above all, good storytelling, it all goes to shit.

Still, I don't live in Japan, so as an outsider looking in, I'm just as curious as you to know if there's more to it.

I'm kinda new to this, but why do you think Drama is hard to write, and how does it ruin manga sometimes? I've seen before people have appreciated some inserted drama, but lately it seems to be really bad. I agree, I just don't know why. Is there a guiding rule of when it's bad?

I have noticed in recent years, there does seem to be a diverging interest as to what is appealing for readers/viewers in Japan and the rest of the world. Perhaps they like inserted drama?

Can we not? It can still be a wholesome story without it contributing to the fetishization of virginity.

I don’t have a fetish for virginity, and even if I did, it’s rude to kink shame. It’s just my preference when reading manga, I don’t care if you are a virgin in real life

Having a virginity fetish (although I would probably tell someone to get help if all they did was have sex with virgins. A person like that needs to see a sex therapist.) is different to the cultural fetishisation of virginity. This is not an attack on you, rather I was commenting on the perpetuation of societal myths in popular culture (like manga).

Sorry dude but this is kinda lame, they're both adults in their mid 20s, it's "protecting" to think they didn't have any sexual relationship with previous partners

The kind comment really comes out of nowhere and makes no sense whatsoever. It's like, where did he even get the idea to say something like that? Every single thing this dude has done has been shitty.
