This from an outsider looking in. Of course western stuff looks HQ and such, but that’s the facade. The subtleties are lost if you don’t understand the language and culture but most high polished western stuff is just using it to hide subpar writing and acting.

It looks flashy but I don’t think anyone in America would consider any of the crime drama trash here “textbook case studies”.

While Japanese tokusatsu might not be as HQ, it has more points in things that count. Originality, story, passion, integrity and imagination.

Most American superhero movies are just boring crap that have little to no respect for source material or used to push political shit. It may look great, but to fans they look like dull brown sludges embarrassed to be comic movies. Boring black or brown costumes replace the amazing colorful art for the sake of “realism”

I’ve had more fun watching shitty tokusatsu over the overproduced Disney shit.

I would much rather spend my time watching Zabogar over anything Nu-Star Wars or marvel

On the last TN Note, "Solid" might be English colloquial equivalent to what's being expressed.

I was watching a early 90's toku Movie called Zipang that was a prime example of this. Some effects may be cheesy, but god it was peak.
