If they need life threathening situation to awake their power. Then why not just beat them up over and over and give tips how they feel when they awakened?
ITs already a 50/50 just to sourvive.

Because the plot demands it. I wouldn't look to much into intradiegetic/watsonian reasons on why because I belive the mangaka didn't either.


Just enjoy the rolercoaster or what ever made you go along for 50 chapters
