This was great. Also nice seeing different expressions on Tomie besides her usual stuck up or fake ones. I wonder if this is how the first Tomie felt when she was cut up and started multiplying? I really wish we had an origin story for her but it only adds to the mystery that we don't. Thanx again for translating this.

Remember that there are hundred probably thousands of Tomies, there is no real Tomie, I like to think she is a human, and very narcissistic cancer cell.

I'm curious how the Tomie who got body swapped into the guy is doing... maybe she's free from the cycle and living a normal life.
Probably not. I feel the emptiness the bodysnatcher saw on their old body probably means that that "Tomie" has nothing left. A running theme the series seems to have is how inhuman Tomie has become over the years. She feels like a curse running on automatic.

nah, Tomie was a bitch even before she started multiplying, and since she seem to share consciousness at some level, maybe that one just went catatonic

Rereading this in preparation for Uzumaki's anime premiere and it just occurred to me that the original Tomie may have been sane and may have been a victim herself.

We've never seen Tomie's origin. I think the very first chapter with her, where she was a student who got murdered and came back, was before Ito made her a full-fledged inhuman thing. I'm pretty sure he had no greater plans at that point in time, so it's definitely not her origin story. But logically she had to come from somewhere.

If she ever was "normal," it would have been long, long ago. The horror of her situation, and her constantly fragmenting will—well, there's no way she'd be left sane at the end. This guy's situation is one of the bleakest fates I've seen in manga given Tomie's immortality. This makes me actually want to see an origin story for her, of a normal but beautiful woman in feudal Japan who got afflicted by some supernatural curse.
