We'll to be fair English in Japanese are from an unknown country accent that most scientist believe exist only in the 26th dimension. They only have diplomatic meeting with our dimension once every 64 year tho.

Well yeah, if you know more than the teacher themselves, their ignorance will cause your scores to drop because they aren't equipped for the job in the first place, I've seen those Japanese English classes, they'll teach you gramatically incorrect english sentences and they can't pronounce anything correctly. Though it could just be she is incompetent at english. Or it could be that its more of a teaching English through Japanese like a translation class instead of a language class, for example imagine this question.

Japanese question
Their
They're
There

An expert English speaker wouldn't know the answer because the question is in Japanese.

Well to be fair, if they teach english in katakana then her not doing so well is very understandable, imagine knowing a langage and then some teacher tells you that you need to learn it using characters that can't even be used to pronounce the words correctly, they don't even have an "L" sound for crying out loud! Do you know how long it took me to realize that ZA WARUDO was supposed to mean THE WORLD!?

@intmanga lol, maybe if you were more familiar with Asian stereotypes, you’re have an easier time using Rs instead of Ls lol; otherwise, I pretty much agree with you

Also plenty of people who are fluent in a language don't really have a good grasp of technical stuff. I used to speak my native language very formally when I was young, and didn't really make (m)any grammar mistakes, but in tests they might ask what specific form of conjugation was used in a given sentence and I wouldn't have any idea what it was called.

I also used to know English grammar, sentence structures, conjugations, conjunctions, accusatives, intransitives etc. back when I was still learning, but fuck me I haven't thought about those for decades by now, and don't remember almost any of the meanings. Doesn't mean I'm not fluent in English.

Off topic from what the other comments were talking about, but I relate with Carol so hard rn. Maybe that's why I found her to be my favorite character.
