When I got my first job in Korea, we needed to set up for an event, moving those plastic chairs around. You know the type. A child could carry 5 of them without much notice. Despite the fact that those things are made of the flimsiest of plastic, basically none of the women helped move them because 'it was a job for men.'
Having lived in a couple different Asian countries for going on 20 years now, while there are definitely elements of feminism in the culture, I don't know that I've ever encountred it when it comes to lifting and carrying once in my life. If you're a man, you do the lifting and carrying.
