Wow, some development. She is right in a way. This had made Tomo uncomfortable. Now the fluff however, made the real progress.

No...she’s over thinking it, somehow I feel like Tomo forgot that advice completely. But it’ll be interesting to see their reactions when that’s revealed in any case.

Wait what ? I mean, yeah, she enjoy hanging out with no holding back and judo stuff but also isn't the "treat as boy" is the issue she get not just only by Jun in very first chapter already ? she want to see as girl. and it work on Jun til now. the problem isn't in her side. it is Jun just can't ready for the change

Misuzu did point something out that often rubs me the wrong way with these tomboy characters in manga. Tomboys are great, no need to make them girly. They're plenty attractive as is IMHO and my real life experience says that most guys agree. All the tomboyish women I know are quite popular and have no problems with getting into and maintaining relationships. Well, at least as far as their tomboyishness is concerned :p

@X3h0n Preach it! Tomboys are the best!

For me, tomboy softball star Tsubaki was by far the more likable girl in 'Your Lie in April'.

@X3h0n Sure Tomo does like boyish activities, but she still very much wants to be seen as "feminine." There is a dichotomy between how she acts and what she expects, and no matter how much Misuzu influences the way she approaches Jun, It doesn't change the fact that Tomo actually wanted to be Cinderella of her own volition. The desire to be more feminine while still doing what she likes to do feels more like a complex brought on from multiple sources instead of just Misuzu. Even Tomo's own mother doesn't give her same attention she gives other girls her age due to her tomboyishness.

Tomo may have an idealized vision of what "feminine" is due to various reasons, but she hasn't really outwardly changed, or tried to change herself at all (thankfullly). Many of Misuzu's suggestions have actually helped her to chip away at Jun. The only exception being the really awful, "lets push him down the stairs" plan.

My read on this is a little different. I don't think Tomo wants to be feminine per se, but rather she wants attention and to be attractive, especially for Jun. She didn't go to Misuzu asking how to be more feminine, but rather asking how attract Jun's attention to which Misuzu's answer was for Tomo to be more feminine. Thanks to her environment and Jun's apparent indifference, she has gotten the idea that she's not attractive and formed a low self-esteem on that front. In reality Jun has consciously avoided looking at her like that while also, together with Misuzu, driving away other guys who've tried to get close to her. Tomo's mother quite clearly thinks her child is cute, but the combined desire to tease her and to lead her away from her fathers fascination with martial arts has led to her giving Tomo the cold shoulder.

@X3h0n Tomo's complex with not being viewed as feminine enough extends far beyond her interest in Jun. She actually does like girly things and is quite clearly jealous of Misuzu for getting the Cinderella role, while she wasn't even considered.

Tomo is constantly concerned that she doesn't do any typical girly activities with her friends such as skinship/hugging, and she became extremely happy that one time she thought the two girls who wanted to fight her were coming to her for love advice.

I think saying that her wanting to be more feminine is solely for Jun is almost tantamount to the idea that women only wear makeup for men, while it's simply true that sometimes they just want to be pretty for themselves. Tomo may be a tomboy, but she is still a girl and wants to do girl things as well sometimes. Jun isn't the only one guilty of treating her like a guy, and she hates this more than anything. Hence her desire to be more feminine.

Mm.. thinking about it, this arc is actually pretty interesting... From how I see it, Misuzu is probably just overthinking, like Tomo often tells her: she feels guilty because she doesn't want her (only) friend to be taken away by a boy who's more similar to Tomo and who she feels would understand her more, and she thinks Tomo and Jun still aren't lovers because of her half-hearted (but actually pretty effective) advise; but the real reason Tomo and Jun aren't a couple is probably more due to the fact that they are both afraid to change their current relationship. (Sorry for the wall of text, hope it's understandable ^^)

FFS, I never said anything of the sort. I assumed we had a good faith discussion, but if you want to put words in my mouth just to paint me a misogynist, you can just fuck off.

@X3h0n It's a comparison mate. I know that today's society has everyone hypersensitive to particular topics, but do understand that it is entirely possible to compare and contrast certain trains of thought without actually labeling the other person and resorting to ad hominem. I never called you anything of the sort, if anything you are putting words in my mouth by reaching beyond the intended meaning of what I wrote to find your own offense.

Perhaps it would have seemed like less of a personal of attack had I said "similar to the concept of" rather than "tantamount to the idea" IDK.
