In the groups I've been working with in the past, sniping was very rare. I mean, there are so many other series one could work on. Basically, a series that another group scanlates would be taken over only if
- The other group has been inactive for a long while (long being dependent on the series in question, 2 weeks is long for a daily series, but for a monthly, one month of delay is nothing)
- The other group would consistently do releases of very low quality for the series in question
These guidelines seemed to make a lot of sense, seemed rather fair and were pretty clear to me back then. Of course these are not rules, not everyone is forced to abide to them, but the current situation is still a shame in my opinion.
