Explained this to another guy but I think it’s because for the whole chapter she was talking about his heartbeat, but when he said he wouldn’t be loud in their house, she finally realized they weren’t talking about the same thing. Also for how his heart beat was so loud, in chapter 12, she touched his back so she prob felt the vibrations of his heartbeat.
