Tho their mom talked to "someone" on the phone so idk what happened unless there's some copy b/c i feel like it'd stick out if "they left their hometown but never contacted anyone/showed up again" b/c other than an estranged family even if you're leaving a small place i'm sure it'd stick out versus "i never want anything to do with this place anymore"
