The meta narrative of this chapter is a pretty scathing rebuke of the foolishness of "my truth, your truth" relativism.

It's only her truth that her beloved sister was eaten alive by a disgusting monster. She learned to respect other people's beliefs! How tolerant.

"You do you" philosophy taken to its logical idiotic conclusion, lol.

God this is fucking annoying. Besides the fact people, including her sister, are being murdered, on a meta level turning the protagonist into passive do nothing just grinds progressing the story to a fucking halt. And for what? So she can do a turn around later and be right back where she started? Actually, why is she the main character to begin with. She hasn't accomplished anything herself and now she's pulling this garbage. Fucking hell.

She's becoming a younger Kanata-san (another of the author's works).

Why didn't that guy say " Your sister literally got eaten by a giant fat monster and you're saying it's ok? Is that how little you love your sister?"
He should have SLAPPED some sense into her.

I don't often advocate for the Bright Slap's usage, but she may well merit one in this instance.

Koike is really strong at creating creepy and compelling concepts, then developing an equally dreadful atmosphere around it. But this, like 6000 and Yuuan no Kanata seem to be really frustrating with the slow narrative pacing and wandering direction of the plot. I will say though, that these stories seem to still be this interesting despite those sore spots.

I'm amazed at how many people are apparently looking at a middle schooler getting mindbroken by witnessing the horrors and stating with dead lifeless eyes that she's given up and are deciding that the story is saying that's good actually.

Grimaces. I don't blame her about it- she heard literally exactly just this from her teacher. Her whole towns social pressure is on top of her for acting out. She seemed to make her friend worse....

You either convince yourself things are good as they are, or you convince yourself there's a problem so big it'd feel impossible to solve.
