I feel like the sight of Shia on page 16 is one that he'd commit to memory. A Shia he won't forget no matter what her answer is. Just for that moment, for a minute he forgets about anything else and takes one look at her. I hadn't even realized it until somebody pointed it out, but I'm sure the frame around her fading away for this instance means a lot for this scene.
