I’m sick of this troupe. It’s not really incest if they don’t share single drop of blood!! One thing that makes incest troupe interesting as fiction is because how wrong it felt, the danger, the suspense, and how dark it is. Without that sense of danger and darkness of blood relation then this whole thing might as well just another cliche romance.

Finally, somebody who gets it!! Just because they grew up together as siblings or even if they're parents remarried when the mcs were teens doesnt make it incest. What makes something incest is if you have blood relations with them.

The main selling point of incest media is the taboo and forbidden feeling you get knowing that it's wrong and the tragedy that they'll never get to be with each other the same way normal couples do despite their real feelings for each other. But when it's not even illegal for you to get married to each other and chances of your parents being cool with it are higher then that kinda takes away from the whole appeal in the first place.

I'm just so sick and tired of getting catfished into picking up an incest manga thinking it's gonna be a spicy/juicy story filled with drama and angst only to find out that theyre not even related by blood. And for some reason this whole incest cop out trope is really popular in shoujo mangas. It's like theyre afraid of making actual incest manga because every single time i read one that's good they pull a 'oops turns out they weren't actually related by blood' at the very end which kinda dampers the whole story because if so then what was the reason for them having to face all those obstacles and hardships in the beginning?

Honestly by this point they should really just add an inseki tag because most of the incest manga aren't even real incest.
