And she was literally calling up Eisenhower, it sounds like. I guess an immortal is bound to make some powerful friends, even if she doesn't get close to very many folks.
The comment about having been to America before it was called America making me think of that Q&A session in one of the volume-end extras where she said the furthest she's been was Azteca, presumably in reference to the area where the ancient Aztec Empire rose up from. She also mentioned drifting across the Pacific in the same Q&A, which is likely connected. Either way, it's one of the places furthest from Japan, I suppose.
Though Brazil would have probably been one of the best choices to imply she's been all over the world. Specifically, with a quick search for 'antipodals' and plugging in Asuka (which is presumably the 'capital of antiquity' referenced in her Q&A response about her hometown), I get a place called Balneário Pinhal in Brazil as the closest city to the antipodal point from Asuka (which is in the middle of the Atlantic off the coast from Brazil by over seven hundred kilometers, according to the site I used).
But still, having visited ancient Mexico is a remarkable feat, especially as early as it's implied she did.
