It’s that time of the season again when Japan votes for their top favorite series of a particular season thanks to the efforts of NTT Docomo, which have pulled a total of 113,925 votes. This time around a particular anime has not only been voted as the top series of the autumn 2019 season with a total of 9,465 votes, but has also taken the top spot in both the top anime for males and females with the show gaining a total of 6,909 votes men and 2,070 votes for women. This anime would be A-1 Pictures’ Sword Art Online Alicization War of the Underworld based on the series of novels by Reki Kawahar, and I am not surprise given how popular the series is.

Also there is one anime I would like to bring up that is on top of the list but like Sword Art Online has also been consistent with how its rank in all three categories, and that anime is Project No.9’s adaptation of Riku Misora and Sacraneco’s High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even In Another World. From what I have learn of the story it’s seems like a very average Isekai story that does not do much at all to make itself stand out from other Isekai series, which one would think be especially problematic given there are 5 other Isekai anime that are airing this season. Four of which have something in which that set themselves apart from each other, and Sword Art Online. However despite the shortcoming this story has it manages to place 3rd in all categories. I’m curious what the people who voted for this anime see in the story.

I would not say High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even In Another World is ranked higher then it's competitors since there are two other Isekai shows that rank above it. However I do wonder what the people who voted on the show see in it, and even then from what I have gather the show does not seem terrible, but it doesn't due anything to make itself stand out. Plus how the story goes about portraying the main cast who were from Earth. I get the impression they lean towards being Gary and Mary-stues.

You know what makes me more disappointed?

Ascendence of Bookworm only got 8th.

T_T

It placed below this which is 3rd place ...... wtf. Elf boobies defeated a good manga significantly.

The most annoying part about Prodigy Isekai is just how it wasted its potential, honestly. Frankly the character I'm annoyed with the most is the magician boy. His tricks are pretty much indistinguishable from magic. His character could've been written like the cola-addict mentalist in Dr. Stone where he uses mind tricks to manipulate his enemies to play into the hands of the protagonists without them realizing using both simple and clever trick while taking advantage of the enemies' weakness, whatever that may be. But nooooo, we want a flying kid who can chop his own head off and cause the Eiffel tower to disappear with seemingly zero explanations. Like, I can sort of understand the science girl's technology since that's pretty much sci-fi but the author dissapoints me so much with the magician boy. Like, in ep 4 when they got the metal alloy shield they should've shown us the gathering of materials and crafting of the sci-fi tools necessary sort of like in Dr. Stone - but noooooo we want the realistic equavalent of a cheat shield.

To paraphrase Mother's Basement, "Yeah it's not terrible but with four better isekais this season as well as tons of hit series like My Hero Academia s4, Dr. Stone, etc, don't waste your time on mediocrity and watch something you will actually enjoy."

I watched that out of seasonal isekai obligation but, now that the first arc is complete, I see that the author is only as talented as Reki Kawahara in ruining great potentials. Dropped.

Tbf even SAO is improving. I genuinely enjoy the Alicization arc. I see absolutely zero hope in Prodigy Isekai for the near future, and by "near future" I mean probably the next decade since that's literally how long it took for SAO to improve.

Ascendence of Bookworm only got 8th.

So we both like Ascendance of a Bookworm I see. Right now this anime adaptation is my top favorite of this season (I still have two more shows to check out to see if it would remain that way), and AI felt slightly disappointed the anime came in 8th place. However I was glad at least the anime did make it to the top 10 which is something good.

Another thing:

Elf boobies defeated a good manga significantly.

From checking out the MangaDex webapage of the manga adaptation of this story, I notice that each of the manga volumes features this elfven woman in the forefront of the covers. I find it quite funny actually, but I do have an idea as to why that is the case. I think it quite say something about how she is portray in the story if I am correct.

@May_Lily

-_-

They are pretty out in the open about it too. Her breasts have essentially become a main character. . . . . . .
