It's been ages, people conveniently forget things. Like the fact that lady Xing from last chapter slaughter bunch of people to escape/distract during the antidote thing at the beginning & all the other fight till she was pardon.

indeed it was mostly just the MC speculating, we have no evidence, i thiink elder iron wanted to talk to MC about that.

Never confirmed, frankly I think the MC was just jumping to conclusions. For all we know Elder Iron's alchemy apprentice mentioned in this chapter IS the kid from earlier.
