Since many were asking... Some animals have developed a resilience to inbreeding. Like mountain goats. Those live in small aerials that are hard to leave. Even some domesticated goats are 'allowed' to inbreed since this will not lead to immediate problems.
I cringed when I found out about this in a casual conversation.
But these dragons deff cannot Adam and Eve their species back into the food chain...

3. They are unaware of the dangers of inbreeding.

Id say its both 1 and 3.
Animals in the wild dont really know incest can have dangerous consequences and will often inbreed, specially when there is a lack of mates available.
She's proven to be a manipulative controlling psycho, it wouldn't be surprising if she is just lying all the time to him
