And them doing stuff like licking each other as animal, not human, behavior, is the whole point of drawing them as animals in one scene then humans in another. Anyone who treats them only as humans, not animals, is just an illiterate moron, especially when the whole story started when she was literally about to kill and eat him, but decided not to on a whim.

As for .5 chapters, those are in non-canon alternate universe, you might as well claim that if manga has for example bender-gent .5 chapters that means characters are gender-fluid or something.
