Nothing reasonable about, after the danger had already passed, physically assaulting Theo on page 15. Theo could've decked her and been in the right for it.

She gave direct orders as the senior Kafna, to place safety above else and unfortunately Theo ignored her which warranted the scolding and the physical handling which is a method to drive the point home of how serious it could have been. and remember, Central library is basically a paramilitary organisation and they would have emphasize to follow order like a regular military org do.

as togid says, the most unfortunate outcome of this fieldwork is a smooth progress and resounding success.

Can't wait until the "tragic backstory" of Aylba is revealed that's supposed to make it okay to manhandle your juniors, what a bitch.
Different times, values, and cultures + it’s fiction. Just because it isn’t considered okay in our current society doesn’t mean it didn’t happen in earlier times. It was probably considered the “proper” way to educate juniors at some point in time. There’s other factors too, like the unusual circumstances of having newly initiated kafna join a mission like this. Maybe she’s not goin about correcting mistakes the correct way, but we don’t really have any right to judge. No “tragic backstory” needed, it’s very human behavior.

I’ve reread the available chapters of this so many times that it feels like it’s been years since an update. I’m so fucking happy to finally get a little bit more. I see people complaining about how people are being treated in this chapter, but they’re not looking at it objectively. This is a different world, in a different time, with different cultures and values. Plus, we did things way worse in the past so who are we to judge?
