I think the next step here for a serious-minded fellow like Goro should be to think hard about what areas of personality, competence, and compatibility have been tested, and which have not. Make a checklist."Have I been a good bride?"
"YES!"
Atta boy, Goro. Next step: make it official
The idea of there being appropriate and inappropriate offerings to the gods, and to specific gods, has mythological precedent. It's also precedented for gods to want offerings specific to their portfolio. But I suspect these gods, as portrayed in this story, will respect the intent of a good faith (heh) offering, plus I think at least one has expressed appreciation for the variety of new treats in modernity. If grape wine is good enough for European gods, it's good enough for Japanese gods. And vice versa, with their rice wine. Gods don't say no to good booze, from what I've seen. Bring them mead next time.

Deep mental wounds take time to heal, and even though he has gotten a ton of support from his wife to be, her family and the community that has sprung up around them, they can't be erased that easily. Plus, the progress they had made likely got reversed from having that abusive boss come back into his life, and then the fallout from the whole experience resulting in Kogane getting harmed. He's a serious guy with a lot going on in his head, and it's gonna be interesting to see how things develop during the final six months of their temporary relationship.Poor Akane had a bit of a busman's holiday. Now she's off again, leaving big shoes for Mugi to fill. Meanwhile, even though Goro treats Kogane well, it seems like he feels a bit more distant. This didn't feel as heartwarming as I'd expect. With Goro saying he felt completely worn out to Ukano-sama and what we know about Goro's emotional burnout, it seems he still has some ways to go before he's fully emotionally healthy again. I feel I may be stretching a bit here, but I've been right about hunches like this in the past. Thanks as always to sarusa and thumper.
Saved, thank you.Not perfect, but I couldn't resist trying:
