no matter how much you tell your little kids to never go with suspicious adults, nor to sit in their car, in the end it's the same outcome, time and again

Granny to the rescue, she is really becoming a favourite of mine as a character.
And man, I am falling in love with Kogane all over again, looking into depression and how to help someone since it's already a major taboo in Japan to even talk about.

That could be it considering an Alraune's nature and how to take care of one and the whole looking like a corpse thing, considering that Alraune are born from let's just say the male essence of hanged men or blood.
Granny really shows how the bonds between people ("strands", as Kojima would call them) are really central to this manga.
I won't lie, I picked Alraune partly because one shows up in Plus Sized Elf, so I figure they must be a type of monster girl Japan is familiar with.

Alraune? Maybe?
If non-Japanese mythology is included, then it opens a door to a boatload of random stuff happening, which means in a funny but good timeline, we could have Reynard and Käreitär star in a chapter lmao (honestly, thats just a personal fan fiction of mine)

... aaaaah, fuck.

Okay, so no longer just a youkai, and if she looks like a dead body covered with plants it might be a yuurei / ghost who died in a forest. Like how Sadako from The Ring was a dead woman who was always wet and crawled out of a well, yuurei ( also called obake or bakemono, though yuurei specifically refers to a human ghost ) are usually found near the place they died and their true forms have wounds or other signs pointing to how they passed on.

Which, unfortunately, has some...unfortunate implications for the asshole driving this arc. Either he is the reason why that bakemono exists either directly or indirectly, or he has access to wherever she died in the first place.

All I know is if it is a fae. He's definitely in trouble as it is a chopstick country. Why do you think the USMC are so effective against the fae? First they are marines, second the standard US MRE plastic spoon, it is durable as hell and plastic is more unnatural than iron to fae.
Not to mention US Marines are virtually immune to most forms of fae trickery: Only a Marine would make being stationed in Hawaii or some other actually nice place sound like hell. It could rain hookers, dip/zyns, Rip-it and free money and a Marine would find a way to bitch about it. A fae couldn't actually bribe or trick a Marine in these circumstances.

"Anything you want and its yours!"

"... Thats exactly what the re-enlistment recruiter said. No thanks, I'm not getting fooled again!"

With that said... if a fae could summon enough jalapeño MRE cheese spread, they'd at least have a chance of a bribe. But again that much unnatural stuff would be like poison to them.

The whole gang gonna pull up
Yeahhhh this lady might think shes bad now, but when ganggang rolls up ready to rummmmble I think shes going to have a different opinion on the situation.

She was pretty freaked out by the spoder and the bike at first, to be fair.

Where do the plant and corpse motifs come in tho?
It's not unheard of for dresm demons to have affinity to plants. Heck I believe recent series succing life has shadow vines connecting to people and blooming flowers when essence is "farmed". Also true forms of many changling/shape-shifting demons and monsters are quite grotesque. So the closest comparison could be a mutilated corpse or a writhing mass of flesh.
