Fox was the correct choice for main girl. There's much more preexisting lore to play with regarding foxes, plus we get to meet and interact with the fox family and fox village, and have plotlines about how different societies interact. Jorogumo meanwhile don't have families or villages or societies... they are solitary creatures.

I don't live in Australia, so I like spiders because they eat all sorts of insects, including mosquitos and other blood-sucking ones. But a fox is still absolutely the correct choice for a romcom like this.

I prefer something more...mammalian. With fluffy tail and soft ears. So, yeah, this change of main character was crucial for me starting to follow this title
