Girls want his baby, and to do that they need to evolve, and to evolve they need to develop divine power.
But the girls being so close to him and bathing in his divine power all the time was preventing them from doing so (they have his blessing, but it's hard to sense it when there's him radiating it nearby)
So by stepping away, he's giving them a chance to feel/develop the blessing.

Kinda like how Ririka gained something of a luck+ ability after coming into contact with his divine power (ch 80)
