Is the book finally gonna be relevant!? It was shoved in our face like a huge Chekov's Gun what feels like ages ago only for Patchouli to casually cart it off.

I did not expect the story to go this direction but I'm glad it is! Full Magician Marisa is a cool source of drama to exploit. I hope this means we'll see more of the magic squad.

Yeah, what I didn’t expect though was Okina being the one to offer the way to being a true magician. You’d think it would be Patchy or Alice. Hell, maybe even Narumi or in a less feasible option, Byakuren but Okina?

It would be in line with Okina's attitude in Hidden Star in Four Seasons where she saw potential in Marisa and tried to recruit her as a dancer.

I've seen another ReiMari artist (Shi Chimi) make a doujin on this topic. In that work, Okina saw a lot of potential in Marisa and thought that her refusal to become a magician was a waste of talent, so she really wanted to push her more towards becoming a magician so that her talent could be fulfilled. Mero should be aware of that doujin since they reposted a teaser of that doujin on their twitter.

I'm not sure if that's going to be the same case in this doujin series though and it might just be Okina trying to put some pressure on Marisa and Reimu to get a resolution. She's a lot less careful than Yukari when it comes to manipulating events

Theres one instance of a villager in the human village turning youkai willingly, and its the SOLE kill reimu has in the canon.(Ignoring the pc-98 games, with some deaths bordering on slapstic where you dont know if its actual death or just exageration)Well, technically you kill the fairies you shoot down in the shmup games but they revive later with no memories if their death, but thats a unique fairy thing

The full context here is that Marisa is becoming a youkai magician, it's a big no no in Gensokyo because it disrupts Gensokyo's status quo and stuff and one of Hakurei shrine maiden's big job is preventing humans from becoming a youkai (unnaturally)
