I do enjoy seeing Marisa progressively slipping more and more into the deuteragonist role even in this manga where the closest we have to a protagonist is someone other than Reimu

What really irks me in this series is why they don't get the absolute, perfect characters to solve each problem. Mice eating harvests? Ask Nazrin. Mosquitos swarming? Ask Wriggle. Lightning-related matters? There's Iku and Tojiko... but no, no screentime for our favorite 2hus.

To be fair a lot of these problems are regarding the human village, and many of said characters wouldn't give much care to help that out.

I mean, Nazrin might, since she works at Myouren-ji and Byakuren does a lot of good will stuff and all. You could probably convince Tojiko via Miko too, since Miko has that whole pro-human thing going on, I think.

The bigger issue is... Mice raiding food stores or mosquitoes biting people are just normal things these animals do. They gotta eat. It's not Nazrin's or Wriggle's fault. If I was in Nazrin's shoes... "What do they eat then? You gonna feed them or what? Set up mice feeding stations? Then what am I supposed to tell them? Starve? Do your own dang pest control."

As for Tojiko - if you need something struck by lightning, she's the one to call, but they're having kind of the exact opposite problem. You wouldn't ask Suika's advice on qutting alcohol, either.
