It feels like the manga isn't done with the prologue yet and we're 10 chapters in. I like the interactions between the characters but this really needs some direction story-wise.

Still, pages 11-13 I couldn't really discern any scenery, apart from Aya and that huge oni. Don't have a clue about what was happening. Did she fall? Or was she tossed up? Or....arrrgh, no chance. Poorly drawn
Still, we had a lot of miserable Miyoi here. So cute. And the photo was good.
But I can't understand, why Reimu is angry? What did she want?

This is how most Touhou manga, and indeed even the games, are. You read them to enjoy the cute interactions between the characters more so than for the plot.

Pretty sure that's entirely the point with the Miyoi hallucinations. The art is fuzzy and hard to follow to give a sense of what the character themselves is experiencing. The location and exact actions are basically irrelevant for such a short scene, what's important is the reader getting the sense of disorientation, fear, and feeling of things being off that comes with Miyoi's abilities. I won't argue that the scenes are hard to follow, but it wasn't poorly drawn.

@pavel94 Can't remember if I ever seen you comment on previous toho manga before. But if you are new, trust me when I say they are all like that. Besides SilentSinnerInBlue, all others creep along slowly but become super exciting near the end.

Also I can't really confirm or deny what @Assaultsquirt wrote. But depending what you look for in these. I personally read them for the official lore and character personallities. Because the games themselves are lacking in that regard. I think there is a term for someone like me that rejects anyhing fandome. *cough

Well, Reimu wanted Aya to deal with it since she can't for unknown reasons (having become soft as an exterminator). So she tickled Aya's pride as drinker in challenging Miyoi. Hoping that Aya would haluzinate so bad that she would out Miyoi in public via newspaper and drive her out.

But the plan backfired obviously. And Reimu is pissed that this outcome only means more trouble for her in the future.
This trouble will come. I mean Mamizou, Aya and alcohol in the same room is like sitting on a Barrel of Dynamite. Ayayaya!

@3RDp Just consider how much Touhou manga the Three Fairies comprise. That's pretty much just a slice of life series, and I wouldn't have it any other way. The games are for moving the plot forward, the printworks and CDs are for cute things and vibing.

Forbidden Scrollery set up its premise in two chapters. Imagine it took 10 chapters for Reimu to figure out that Suzunaan was dealing with youma books and that Kosuzu is going to make her life harder because of that. The fairies manga, Udonge 4-koma and Wild and Horned Hermit also established in the first few chapters that they're going to be (mostly) slice of life. Silent Sinner in Blue was different by actually from start to finish being a plot driven manga.

The formation of the youkai bar just took way longer than what other manga achieved in one or two chapter. That's really my biggest gripe with this particular manga. It's not that I'm expecting some thriller, I like the slice of life nature of most of Zun works, but I to wish that the premise of this one was better delivered.

I definitely get where you're coming from, it has been kinda vague and meandering, but WaHH had a similar pace as this. I don't think Kasen searching for her arm was even mentioned until like chapter 12 or something and that became the main conflict later.
I think the premise might just be intended to the mysterious story of Miyoi and her memory manipulations. She may be looking for some way to break free of being bound to one place as evidenced by her "fate of a zashiki warashi" remark and her conversations with Suika and intent behind possessing the gourd.

@ilikepi31415 If Zun is doing that, then he is forgetting what he already did, or retconning things in a half done manner again. It was already established that they could leave on their own will.
