The realistic case would be to wait for most of the zombies to die on their own. After all, they would realistically die once they run out of energy or the body otherwise is incapable of sustaining itself. In some areas of the world dehydration would also do it. They aren't exactly farmers producing new food to eat for themselves. If you make them basically undying, undecomposing undead, even if created by a virus, you might as well throw the realism out of the window also in other aspects for the sake of an enjoyable story.

@kalki_Rajawat sure we can wait them out but youd need to have enought food and water also the since the virus sprouted into a flower the auther could just say that the zombies live off of sunlight but hunt humans for extra nutrients or something

Dude, yo'rer in no position to save a baby. Its mother is dead. No choice to leave it to its fate. Taking in the baby, not only do you have to feed it, change its diapers, it also becomes an effective noisy zombie magnet with no off button.
